The Organization of Self-management Housing Cooperatives (CECOOPH) is a cooperative developed around six years ago among the community organizations of Porto Alegre, Brazil. The idea of a cooperative body was developed as a way of organizing workers to tackle the city's serious housing shortages. In light of such issues, Porto Allegro's City Council convened representatives of various housing related fields to discuss the directions that housing policy should take in the city.
