NEW YORK -- Wines in innovative packaging are leading category sales in U.S. grocery, liquor and drug stores according to research released today by ACNielsen. Completing the nation's first comprehensive research on consumer purchases of wines with screwcap closures and revisiting earlier premium wine in a box sales, ACNielsen found that wines in the two leading innovative packaging types are up over 50%. According to ACNielsen, sales of premium wines with screwcap closures surged more than 51% from 2005, 3.5 times faster than the total 750ml bottled wine category.
