THE trouble with writing a script for "the greatest comedy show on TV," Ricky Gervais admits on Sky's promotional DVD for Sunday's Simpsons, is "you can only make it slightly worse."
After all, he explains "there's no way they are going to go, 'this is amazing! We should have been doing this from the beginning!!' All you can do is sort of survive really."
Oh come, come, Ricky, I wanted to say. False modesty really doesn't suit you. "Failure" is, after all, not a word in this man's vocabulary. Is it?
