Apr. 25--When financial-political figure Guy Riordan's name came up during disgraced former state Treasurer Michael Montoya's testimony in the federal trial of successor Robert Vigil, Gov. Bill Richardson was quick to put distance between himself and the prominent stockbroker.

Riordan has not been charged with any crime. But, if confessed felon Montoya is to be believed, Riordan was close enough to the kickback atmosphere of the Treasurer's Office that his political connections now are, to put it mildly, tainted.
