Lately the common refrain in some circles, regarding Chinese manufacturers and merchants, is that they are helping to build a robust economy mostly by knocking- off and undercutting all types of goods. I myself witnessed myriad counterfeit products being sold on the streets of Shanghai not two years ago. If you know what you are getting and have managed your expectations accordingly, it's no big deal. You won't cry when that fake Gucci bag explodes or that knock-off Rolex stops ticking after three or four days.
