Apr. 26--Career Youth Development's Survivors of Homicide support group, largely operated in the past volunteers, received a financial boost Tuesday -- a $40,000 state grant aimed at reducing crime in the central city. The support group, which began in 1984 but has continued as part of the agency's Victory over Violence initiative, has never been able to qualify for state or federal funding in the past.
