Apr. 26--Northern State halted a four-game losing streak by holding off Mayville State 8-6 in the first game of a college baseball doubleheader at Fossum Field on Tuesday. The Comets bounced back for a 17-3 victory in the second game to earn the split. The Wolves only trailed once in the opening game, when the visitors scored a run in the first inning. Northern responded with two runs in each of the first and second innings. Christian Tavarez hit a two-run homer in the first inning to put Northern ahead for good.
