ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Progress Energy Florida (PEF), the Office of Public Counsel and other consumer advocates have signed an agreement that benefits customers by strengthening the company's financial response to future hurricanes.

The agreement, if approved by the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC), extends the storm-cost surcharge collected from customers since August 2005 through July 2008.
