Apr. 27--Bea Walker didn't mind one bit waking up early and traveling nearly 90 miles to Tulsa. Despite the brisk Wednesday morning in April, the Seminole resident was determined to attend the 100th Anniversary of the Act of 1906.

To Walker and about 70 other members of the Five Civilized Tribes, the Creek Council Oak Tree at 17th Street and Cheyenne Avenue was the right place to commemorate a day that might otherwise have gone unnoticed.

They gathered to recognize that on April 26, 1906, Congress signed the Act of 1906, also known as the Five Civilized Tribes Act.
