Apr. 27--Julie Wilson did not realize how much energy diabetes stole from her life until she no longer had to fight the disease.
Wilson is one of the more than 3,000 Oklahomans whose life has been saved by organ donation since 1988, according to the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network.
On July 13, 2003, she received a kidney to replace the one her diabetes had damaged and a pancreas to create the insulin her body could not produce. On the same day, Rex Williams received a lung, Paul Snow received a kidney, and Mary and Jay LeBeau lost their 23-year-old son, Matthew.
