Apr. 25--Thai Airways International (THAI) will raise the fuel surcharge on its international flights, a first since last August, as jet fuel prices are inching towards the record US$90 a barrel.

The national carrier may begin to increase the standard fuel surcharge, currently at $25 for short-haul flights and $50 for intercontinental services, including those to Australia and New Zealand, in mid-May or early in June.

The airline has yet to decide on the new rates which, according to Vasing Kittikul, THAI's executive vice-president for commercial affairs, will be consistent with those of competing carriers ...
