Article: Environmental risks in chemical industry.(Brief article)

Pan Yue, Deputy Director of the State Environmental Protection Administration (SEPA), disclosed to the press on April 5th, 2006 that it has recently conducted a survey of environmental risks to 20 large chemical and petrochemical projects with a total investment of RMB60.59 billion. The result of the survey shows that there are considerable environmental risks in the distribution of the chemical and petrochemical industry in various water systems (river, lake, etc.), but there is a serious lack of preventive mechanisms.
