Q: Recently, I got on the westbound Beltline at Monona Drive, only to get stuck in a mass of cars going 30 mph. Thinking there must have been a crash, I got into the far left lane, which was going marginally faster. At Gammon Road, I got to the front and I saw the holdup was a funeral procession. Considering safety, and the feelings of the mourners as Beltline drivers vented their road rage, shouldn't it be illegal for a funeral procession to drive 30 mph on the Beltline?
A: Funeral processions and military convoys are given the right-of-way as long as the vehicles in those processions have their headlights on, said Madison Police Sgt. John Radovan.
