Article: Homeopathic medicine is increasingly lucrative market in U.S. (RX: Marketplace)

Thirty-four percent of Americans use alternative health care services, according to a recent study published in The New England Journal of Medicine. This forms a market worth nearly $13 billion, which is almost as much as primary care, obstetrics-gynecology and family practice visits combined.

Time reports that 3% of Americans have tried homeopathic medicines and 84% would use them again. Just this year the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has formed an office of alternative medicine that will award 10 grants this fiscal year--one-third of which will focus on homeopathic medicine.
