In any antiques category, an item that's hot can be hard to find: Collectors who own one won't let go. That's the case with Tiffany Studios glass lamps, says Arlie Sulka of Lillian Nassau Ltd. "There aren't many for sale right now," she notes ,"because some of the best examples are in museums or private collections. So finding exceptional examples today is a challenge."
As a result, Sulka doesn't expect to see hordes of Tiffany Studios lamps on the 2006 Antiques Roadshow tour (see p. 16). She'd "love to see a 'magnolia,' or a 'drophead dragonfly,'" she says. "And a 22-inch 'peony' would be nice...." But realistically, such treasures are a long shot.
