Apr.30--From packaging with insulated, leak-proof boxes to coordination with airline schedules with a constant eye to weather conditions, shipping fish from Alaska to Outside customers is an art that requires constant vigilance.
"Logistically we can handle the packaging and order taking," said Rob Winfree of 10th & M Seafoods in Anchorage. "The only variable is the airline itself.
"Mother Nature at times plays nasty games with us. At some point, we have to turn (the packaged fish) over to the airline. That is the only variable we can't control."
