As publishers scurry to hook up with commercial online services, Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. has taken a different tack. The media conglomerate, parent of TV Guide, Mirabella and the soon-to-be launched Married Woman, bought its own company instead of joining with one.
The deal for Delphi Internet Services--the fifth-largest commercial online company, but the only one with access to Internet, the global network of independent computer networks--provides News Corp. a gateway to the burgeoning information system.
