Frank Cozzi, the newly elected chairman of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, said that in the near term, the trade group will focus on improving safety for scrap workers, implementing new recycling industry operating standards, and addressing transportation issues facing scrap operators.
Transportation issues include dealing with a shortage of shipping capacity and escalating prices, as well as Department of Transportation regulations regarding the operation of private fleets.
