Education, social class, and parental values in Taiwan.

WE (MA & SMITH, 1991) HAVE SUGGESTED that mass education is the cause of the narrowing difference between middle-class and working-class parental values in Taiwan. Alwin (1984) expressed a similar view about the convergence of white-collar and blue-collar values in the United States, attributing this trend to diminishing educational differences. In an earlier study, Kohn (1969) indicated that education, along with work conditions and experiences, is probably a key variable in explaining class differences in parental values.
