The other center fielder, Coco Crisp, will find out after an X-ray Friday if his broken left index finger has healed enough for him to begin baseball-related activities like catching a ball and swinging a bat.
"Actually, the fracture is probably not going heal up completely for months, but we need it to heal just well enough so I can start doing more stuff," Crisp said before the Red Sox' 7-3 win against the Yankees last night. "Because of the consistency of progress, they can put a timetable together now. Hopefully, I can be back before mid-May."
Crisp broke his finger April 8 in Baltimore sliding into third base. ...
