Deep Purple frontman Ian Gillan has never slowed down. The onetime singer with Black Sabbath has recorded 44 albums and still plays five cities a week.
'I looked at my diary yesterday,' he says, 'and we've got so many gigs booked I won't be home in Devon until May 2007.' Married with two children, Gillan says Deep Purple now have a fan base so wide they are set to play both heavy metal-fest Monsters Of Rock and the Monterey Jazz Festival this year.
'I'm always surprised by the variety of people who like us,' he says. 'My daughter told me, "You just don't get it, do you Dad? Deep Purple are cool."' A new album, Gillan's Inn, is out now - and the DVD ...
