Sean Naylor was a senior writer for the Army Times when he worked as one of only eight embedded journalists for Operation Anaconda on March 2, 2002, in Afghanistan. The author, with no direct military experience, has a solid base of journalistic deployments to Somalia, Haiti, Bosnia, and Croatia covering military operations, and his writing experience for the Times since 1990 prepared him for covering Afghanistan operations.
