May 3--Tom Hicks is getting into the satellite television business.
The owner of the Dallas Stars and Texas Rangers said Tuesday that his family-owned investment firm is teaming up with DirecTV Group Inc.
The new business, DirecPath, will sell TV programming, broadband telephone and data services, and security as a package to apartment complexes and condominiums.
It is in the process of closing four contracts in Florida and Georgia that would cover more than 30,000 subscribers.
Different vendors will be selected to provide the other services besides DirecTV.
