Rick Gabriel plans to take his 14- and 17-year-old sons to see "Facing the Giants" and "Sting: The Moment of Truth" at the Carousel Center's Regal Cinemas.
He sees them as sure hits: The movies are about sports. They include a Christian message. And they're free.
"They'll know it's a pretty good theme," said Gabriel, who attends Crossroads Church in Cicero.
Organizers of the eight-day Greater Syracuse Christian Film Festival hope 10,000 viewers will agree. Members of at least 50 local evangelical churches have volunteered or donated money to put on the $35,000 festival that starts Thursday.
