The Hogg mine, as it is presently known, was a prolific source of beryl and rose quartz during the years it was operated commercially. When not in production, the mine has had a history of sporadic operation for collectors. Although the location is widely known for aquamarine and asteriated rose quartz, little has been published about the history and production of this interesting group of pegmatites. Today, the mine is under lease to a commercial specimen-mining company and is open intermittently to the public on a fee basis.
