Within the Gettysburg-Newark section of the Piedmont in Pennsylvania lie mineral resources that are both important and interesting. Several of these localities, such as the Cornwall Iron mine in Lebanon County and the French Creek mine in Chester County, have yielded world-class mineral specimens. Although Valley quarry in Gettysburg is not one of these occurrences, the operation has produced an assortment of fine specimens during the past forty years. This article summarizes nine teen years of dedicated research on this particular quarry. Although Hoff (1978) wrote about the quarry's mineralogy, our efforts have produced results that warrant publication.
