Pat Holly, transportation manager at Swiss Valley Farms, Chicago, says he has had less headaches since the May installation of new temperature monitors in 15 percent of the Swiss Valley fleet.
"If there is a low or high temperature, 28 |degrees~ or 42 |degrees~ F, I can go to the mechanic and ask why, rather than have a security guard call me, say it's 45 |degrees~ and ask me why," Holly says. Using the new monitors, boxes can be set with a thermostat and a probe will record temperatures for 24 to 48 hours.
