Healthcare facilities are one of the most difficult of building types to "green" for a number of reasons. First, they are probably regulated more heavily that any other building type. Second (and the obvious reason for the regulation), they house the most vulnerable of us, and they must first and foremost dedicate themselves to ensuring the quality of care to their patients; infection control cannot take a back seat to water reduction.
