NEW YORK--Vitamin use among U.S. consumers is widespread and growing rapidly. Industry sources say that the growth trend has been accelerating over the past 18 to 24 months, and most expect the category to continue expanding for years to come.
A widely quoted 1992 poll by Gallup Organization Inc. of vitamin users found that 36% of adults were regular users of vitamins last year, representing a 16% increase over the previous year. What's more, vitamin manufacturers say that new studies soon to be released indicate that vitamin usage among adults is approaching 50% in 1993.
