Last week's National Association of Broadcasters convention left some television station executives feeling insecure, wondering how they fit into their network partners' push to put shows on the Internet and on cellphones and other gadgets.
ABC Television Group President Anne Sweeney didn't allay all the executives' anxiety with her assurance that the network is committed to including affiliates in plans to distribute programs in new ways. She stopped short of saying what role stations would play in ABC's strategy-and what it would mean to the bottom line.
