Real Estate: Park owners say measures steal profits
The highly-charged issue of rent control for mobile home parks is spreading through San Diego County like crabgrass.
Mobile home park owners are challenging a rent control ordinance approved in Santee last month. The county Board of Supervisors is expected to tackle the issue next week. In Vista, residents will vote in November on a rent control ordinance passed last month by the City Council.
In addition, officials are exploring rent control in the cities of Carlsbad, Encinitas and El Cajon. None has an ordinance on the books; but word from both park residents and owners is that rent control ...
