Competence demands 'over the top'.(LETTERS: TELL US WHAT YOU THINK)(Letter to the editor)

I write in strong support of Sam Mojel's Letter "Paperwork undermines Work Satisfaction" (Kai Tiaki Nursing New Zealand, February 2006, p5). I am a 50-something enrolled nurse (EH) who has been in the system longer than I care to remember. While I fully support on-going education and up-skilling, I am finding the demands placed on us to prove our competence quite over the top.

I don't have family at home any longer but some of my slightly younger, but no less competent colleagues do, and they are finding the expectations on them quite difficult to fulfill without interfering in their lives after work.
