May 8--LEHMAN TWP. -- In a main stairwell to the second floor of Penn State Wilkes-Barre's Hayfield House is a small sign fitted with little white plastic letters. The name beside the chancellor label now reads "CHARLES DAVIS" but closer examination shows where the sunlight faded the blue plastic background forming an outline of someone else's name. Davis hasn't been here long. In his corner office on the second floor, Davis' office overlooks a lush, green athletic field in the rural campus that is the academic home for more than 770 students.
