Hungarian national airline Malev reports 11.7% y/y rise in passengers, higher load factor in Q1 '06

BUDAPEST. MAY 8. INTERFAX CENTRAL EUROPE - Hungary's national airline Malev carried 550,000 passengers in the first quarter of 2006, 11.7% more than in the same period of last year, the company announced on Monday.

"Passenger numbers on scheduled flights rose significantly despite this period of the year usually being an off-season. Load factor of flights was 3 percentage points higher than last year, while revenues from core activities increased by a higher-than-planned 19%," Malev said in a statement.
