La Bastide Haute in the South of France was built 40 years ago yet looks like a grand manor farmhouse that might have been nestling on the hills near fashionable Mougins, on the Cote d'Azur, for at least 100 years. This is largely due to the fact that the house was made entirely from reclaimed materials.
There are ancient timber beams, bare stone walls and terracotta floors. None of the exterior walls is rendered, which lends it a gentle, rustic air.
