In "Art School Confidential," director Terry Zwigoff and writer Daniel Clowes ("Ghost World") grab the collegiate art scene by the turtleneck and give it a hilariously rude spanking. Naturally, not everyone will appreciate the display _ as a satire of artsy pompousness, this is the sort of dark, difficult comedy that pompous art-types will like best.
"Art School Confidential" is also a love story, in its own fashion. Meet Jerome Platz (Max Minghella from "Bee Season," in a great, precocious performance), a wide-eyed freshman who arrives at Strathmore Institute carrying a virginal chip on his shoulder and a glamour-shot of Picasso ...
