May 9--At the first stop in a weeklong sweep through Minnesota's 8th Congressional District, Republican Rod Grams said Monday he is serious in his bid to defeat longtime incumbent U.S. Rep. Jim Oberstar. Grams, who served one term in each the U.S. House and Senate, said he believes he can beat Oberstar this year. "I wouldn't get in this race if I didn't think I could win," Grams said.
