HIS detractors - including half of London at the last count - might have wished David Blaine would stay underwater for a lot longer than the week his latest stunt lasted.
But there was some consolation for his critics as he emerged from his New York goldfish bowl today. He had failed in his attempt to break the world record for holding his breath underwater.
Stuntman and magician Blaine, his face contorted in pain, was pulled out of his 8ft tank - alas no sharks nearly two minutes short of the record.
He had made the task more difficult by trying to extract himself from chains and handcuffs at the same time.
