May 9--SMALL BUSINESS HONORS: State Rep. Joseph Markosek, D-Monroeville, is the recipient of the Leo R. McDonough Distinguished Public Official Small Business Advocate Award for 2006. The award, which is presented annually by the SMC Business Councils, is in honor of Leo McDonough, the president-emeritus of SMC Business Councils. The council said Mr. Markosek, as chairman of the House Commerce Committee, "works with business and community leaders to create an environment in which economic development can thrive, as well as protect Pennsylvania consumers."
