With one swing of Joe Carter's mighty bat, the Toronto Blue Jays became the first team to win two consecutive World Series Championships in 15 years.
Carter's three-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, gave the Blue Jays an 8-6 come-from-behind win against the Philadelphia Phillies. The Carter home run clinched the title in dramatic fashion and gave manager Cito Gaston the distinction of being the only Black manager to earn two World Series rings consecutively.
