May 10--After months of hard work, the reopening of the Legal Tender in Lamy has finally become a reality. Allen Anderson, Sam Latkin, Bob Saar and more than a dozen other residents from Lamy and the Santa Fe area have been cleaning and restoring the building to some of its original glory since January. The group hosted an open house Sunday, inviting more than 100 guests, including State Rep. Peter Wirth, D-Santa Fe, and County Commissioner Jack Sullivan. "It's just magnificent inside," Latkin said.
