Three stadiums. Two bills. One tax. One referendum.
By the numbers, that was how the DFL-controlled Senate sought to resolve years of Minnesota stadium controversy in barely two hours of mild-mannered debate Tuesday.
Now it will be up to at least three House-Senate conference committees to find compromises in less than two weeks between bills that differ widely in funding mechanisms, the number of stadiums to be built and even the design of the proposed Twins ballpark.
