May 9--DOVER -- As the General Assembly nears the end of this year's session, time is running out for lawmakers to revamp the state's workers' compensation system.

Business groups consistently peg changing the compensation system as their top priority this session, which will end in the early morning hours of July 1.

Under the system, businesses must purchase workers' compensation insurance.

Policy premiums are based on the size of a company's payroll, the level of risk involved in workers' duties and injury history.

Delaware businesses pay much more than surrounding states, however, which worries ...
