Seattle trash workers reach deals with duo
Unionized trash workers in Seattle struck tentative labor deals with both Waste Management Inc. and Allied Waste Industries Inc.
Members of Teamsters Local 174 were scheduled to vote on the proposals May 7, according to the union.
"We are pleased these talks finally reached a fair and reasonable agreement with our people who are represented by the Teamsters,'' said Mike Huycke, Seattle district manager for Allied Waste.
Teamster members had rejected an earlier tentative deal with Allied, which sent the two sides back to the bargaining table. Huycke said a "good faith effort'' was made by both ...
