May 12--MONTGOMERY -- Alabama's public school chief said it's time for new buildings and construction projects at the state's public schools.
Superintendent of Education Joe Morton told the state Board of Education on Thursday that by fall he hopes to have a plan for large-scale school construction and improvement projects to end leaky roofs and overcrowded classrooms.
"We have many needs in the state," Morton said. "We are growing. With BRAC in North Alabama, the potential for growth is much faster than usual. We're growing in other areas as well, and we need to address those needs. I believe the next session of the ...
