May 12--PHILADELPHIA -- They said he was a hardnosed player. And in the first inning Thursday night, Aaron Rowand, the Phillies center fielder with a linebacker's desire, proved why. Rowand sustained a broken nose and cuts around his nose when he slammed face first into the center field fence after making a sensational running catch with the bases loaded in the Phillies' 2-0, five-inning victory over the New York Mets at Citizens Bank Park.
