Spectacular treasures from Mesopotamia, Anatolia and Egypt, many of them never before displayed, are expected to be among the main attractions of 1993 at the British Museum in London. Two of the three galleries, funded by Dr Raymond Sackler and his wife Beverly, of Greenwich, Connecticut are already open to the public and the third, the Sackler gallery of Early Egypt will open later in the year.
Dr Sackler has received many academic, scientific, professional and national honours and is the author of a number of scientific papers. He and his wife are involved in a wide range of philanthropic projects in a variety of countries.
