Saudi Arabia is the largest and fastest growing telecoms market in the Middle East, excluding Turkey, and was the second biggest mobile market in the MENA region during 2005 (see story page 32).

That will make it a hotbed for investment by domestic and foreign players keen to capitalise on its newly liberalised status. The country posted 30% growth rate for the past three years, and total expenditures within the telecoms sector are expected to approach $60 billion by 2020, up from $4.7 billion in 2005.
