The first-year University of Wisconsin head coach put a high priority on football recruiting, especially the state; declared the best players would play regardless of age ("I'm not afraid to play freshmen"); and demanded accountability from everybody in his program, particularly in the classroom. To punctuate his message, he suspended players who did not meet academic standards of performance, or violated team rules, including one running back who overslept and missed a scheduled practice ... in April.
