The seasons appear to have rolled off an assembly line, one third-place finish followed by another and another and another for the Toronto Blue Jays.
For seven of the past eight years, their 162-game journey has concluded in that same spot.
Those finishes have come with 88, 84, 83, 80, 78, 86 and 80 victories, far from the misery fans of Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Tampa Bay and Detroit have endured but ultimately rather ordinary, particularly for a franchise that once was anything but run of the mill.
